New year, new school, new continent

“I can’t wait to see what 2013 brings, and if it tops 2012, it’s going to be an amazing year.”

That was the last sentence of my last post on this site.

I had hoped that my “amazing year” would include another Final Four appearance and maybe an internship; that was about as high as my hopes were on Dec. 31, 2012. Somehow, neither of those things happened and it’s still been an amazing year so far.

I’ve gotten to travel to Austin, Texas, and Norfolk, Va., to shoot KU basketball for the Kansan; St. Louis for the American Copy Editors Society conference; oh, and now I’m in Africa to study abroad through New York University.

This is pretty much a segue post to say that I’m alive (since I haven’t posted anything in five months) and still keeping busy with journalism. While I’m in Accra, I’ll be posting to this site pretty regularly about my personal and professional experiences as I’m touring and reporting all over Ghana for the next six weeks.

Bear with me while this site basically becomes my journal and my portfolio, all rolled into one.
